# AI for Nonprofit Finance and Operations

AI can help you check financial records, understand what changed, and prepare clearer reports. Getting a dependable result can still feel mystifying.

## Course objective

Use ChatGPT or Claude to check financial data, understand budget and operating results, prepare board reports, and build a scheduled workflow you can review and maintain.

## Who it’s for

For nonprofit finance managers, bookkeepers, operations leaders, and executive or program directors responsible for budgets and reporting. No previous AI experience is needed.

## How we’ll work

Meet in person or live online. Each two-hour session includes one hour of demonstration and one hour of guided practice, with time for questions and feedback.

## The five weeks

### Week 1: Get comfortable with AI

Explore ChatGPT or Claude, learn what they can produce, and turn financial and operational documents into a useful briefing.

### Week 2: Give AI the context it needs

Build a reusable brief with your reporting periods, financial categories, organizational priorities, and audience needs.

### Week 3: Check the data and find the questions

Check for duplicate or missing records, reconcile totals, and compare actual results with budgets to identify questions that need investigation.

### Week 4: Make the numbers clear

Turn checked figures into a board report with clear charts, a concise summary of changes, and the decisions or follow-ups needed.

### Week 5: Build a scheduled workflow

Set up a weekly finance and operations briefing that flags missing information, surfaces budget questions, and prepares an action list for review.
