# AI for Fundraising and Grant Writing

AI can help you find promising grants, understand donor history, and turn a blank page into a useful draft. Getting started can still feel mystifying.

Work through practical fundraising tasks, learn what makes a useful request, and build a process you can use again.

## Course objective

Use ChatGPT or Claude to research funding opportunities, understand donor data, and draft fundraising materials, with a repeatable process for giving AI useful context and evaluating its work.

## Who it’s for

For nonprofit grant writers, fundraising staff, development leaders, and executive or program directors who contribute to proposals. No previous AI experience is needed.

## How we’ll work

Meet in person or live online. Each two-hour session includes one hour of demonstration and one hour of guided practice, with time for questions and feedback.

## The five weeks

### Week 1: Get comfortable with AI

Explore ChatGPT or Claude, learn what it can produce, and turn source documents into a useful fundraising brief.

### Week 2: Give AI the context it needs

Bring together organizational background, meeting notes, and voice guidance. See how better context changes the quality of a donor message.

### Week 3: Find the next best donor action

Use giving history and relationship notes to identify outreach priorities and draft a thoughtful follow-up.

### Week 4: Research and draft a grant proposal

Compare funding opportunities for eligibility and fit, then draft a proposal section grounded in supporting evidence.

### Week 5: Make the work repeatable

Combine context, reusable instructions, and connected tools into a fundraising workflow. Test it with changing inputs and explore recurring research and follow-up tasks.
